Arthur Penn (1922-2010) resigned to
Today dying Arthur Penn, one of the great innovators of cinema and, objectively, one of the greatest of all time. Investigator of the slow-motion ( Bonnie and Clyde was one of the first film to emphasize the violence through slow motion), a large technical team (B & C "the climactic shoot-out Was filmed with four different cameras, all running at different speeds "), an expert connoisseur and theater director, gradually disappears from the world of cinema to the mid-80s, between theater and TV - and well-deserved rest. His films are all to be recovered, but are essential in addition to B & C: The Left Handed Gun, which influenced western Peckinpah and the whole new wave of post-western years 1960-1970, Mickey One (unpublished), a thesis on film-noir reminiscent of the Japanese and French New Wave, Little Big Man, Missouri, Four Friends and poignant post-noir Night Moves, a G. Hackman in search of an identity than that of others. Inactive for some time as a director, but here and there a teacher and TV producer, Penn did not leave behind any regrets, however, with such a career, and hopefully will be well honored in recent days.
